As there isn't a space for May events, I thought I would put this here:

If you have an innovative idea to solve a security problem (either as an individual or a start-up) you should take a look at the Global Security Challenge website: www.globalsecuritychallenge.com.

We have just launched the fourth annual Global Security Challenge Competition 2009 - the leading international competition for security innovators. The winners will gain cash grants totalling $500,000 USD, mentorship by venture capitalists and invaluable publicity and exposure. Entry is free and the closing date is 15 June 2009.

Hey Ryan, the GSC still hold the $500,000 US competition later in the year for the most promising security start-up. The Cyber Security Challenge is a new competition focusing on research in cyber security, rather than security start-ups in general.

The Global Security Challenge has launched a new award for companies/individuals who are currently researching new ideas to respond to the mounting challenges in cyber security, this week (9 March 2009).

The three winners of this competition will gain cash prizes totalling £9,000 GBP (sponsored by BAE Systems), mentorship by market leaders and access to government officials and industry leaders at an exclusive event.
